FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be MISLEADING.
Using the InVid Tool, we extracted keyframes from the viral video and performed a Reverse Image Search. This search directed us to a YouTube video uploaded on June 1, 2020, that carried a similar video from a different angle. The video description read, “Freight train robbed in Chicago while moving.” Check a similar video here.
Searching further, we found the same video uploaded on Facebook on June 30, 2020, with the caption” “Chicago train looting. I can’t wait to see what lawsuits will be filed on behalf of the looters for what? Injury While Looting This will surely advance the BLM cause don’t you just know !!!”
Below is the comparison between the viral video and the video uploaded in 2020. This clearly shows that the viral video is not recent.
A similar video from a different angle was also uploaded on a verified Facebook page of a media house “RT News” on June 4, 2020, with the caption, “Thieves looted TVs from a MOVING TRAIN near Chicago.”
