Fact Check: Has Akhilesh Yadav Announced Pro-Muslim Manifesto Ahead Of Upcoming UP Polls? Here’s The Truth

Date:

A post has gone viral on social media claiming that Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has promised multiple benefits to Muslims ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

(English translation: 2000 new mosques will be built in western UP and Purvanchal, Rs 1000 crore will be given for Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, Ayodhya’s name will be changed. The reservation of Dalits and backwards will be reduced and Muslims will be given 30% reservation, love jihad law will be abolished, this is my promise to Muslims, Akhilesh Yadav)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be fake.

We searched with different keywords but found no report to suggest that Akhilesh Yadav has made any such comment.

We instead found articles published by Scroll, The Economic Times, which belied the viral claim. The title of one of the posts read, “Samajwadi Party now trying to get rid of pro-Muslim image.”

The report said, “On a trip to Chitrakoot last week, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav visited the Kamdhenu temple, did a circumambulation of the Kamadgiri and met saints and sought their blessings. Addressing a press conference, Yadav announced that if elected to power, the party’s government would beautify Chitrakoot, develop the Lakshman Pahadi on an international level and give pension to artists involved in Ramlila, without any discrimination on the basis of religion or caste.”

We further found that Samajwadi Party had promised free electricity up to 300 units and free laptops for youths in its manifesto.

We also found that Samajwadi Party’s Fact-Checking Twitter handle had also refuted the viral claim.

(English translation: Rumors are being spread by BJP and its troll army against Samajwadi Party through Facebook/Twitter/Whatsapp by making different types of fake screenshots which is completely wrong, strict action will be taken against all those spreading rumours when SP government is formed.)

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is fake and Akhilesh Yadav has not made any such pre-poll promises.
