NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.
We ran a keyword search and found a report by Amar Ujala from February 2021, which mentioned that the post is fake.
In the post, it was mentioned that the message was doing rounds in the wake of the rise in cases in India before the second wave. The report also mentioned that Uttar Pardesh Police took to Twitter to refute the viral claim.
Moreover, we also scanned through the Twitter handle of UP Police and found that in a tweet dated January 8, 2022, the Twitter handle of UP Police Fact Check also rubbished the viral claim.
“No such advisory has been issued by the UP Police, but everyone is sure to wear a mask. Mask enforcement will continue not only for 30 days but till the outbreak of COVID. Legal action will be taken for not wearing a mask. There is no provision for temporary imprisonment. #UPPViralCheck,” the tweet read.
Hence, from the above information, it is clear that the viral message is fake.
However, NewsMobile would like to reiterate that wearing a mask is an essential tool in our fight against COVID-19 and request all the readers to wear a mask and take precautions while stepping out of the house.
