Fact Check: Scripted ‘Awareness’ Video On Child Kidnapping Shared With False Communal Angle

A video in which a woman can be seen running away with a child is being widely shared on social media with a claim that it is a case of child kidnapping. Many social media users are sharing this video claiming that a woman from the minority community is kidnapping children from parks. 

The video is being shared on Facebook with a caption in Hindi that can be roughly translated in English to, “All friends are requested to share this video as much as possible, see how this jihadi woman steals a child from the park and takes her to beg, as many parents as there are, take more care of your child, pay more attention ever Don’t let her go to play alone in the park, otherwise see how this woman was stealing four or five children and says she breaks her arms and legs and beg everyone, beware of all these children, see this jihadi Muslim woman how to do it was carrying the baby.”

Further, we extracted keyframes from the viral video and performed a Reverse Image Search. This search directed us to a Facebook page that uploaded the same viral video on December 9, 2021. The about section of the page reads, “Pranks x Expose.”
