Bhutan on Friday announced its decision to confer the country’s highest civilian award – Order of the Druk Gyalpo – on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The award is in recognition of PM Modi’s steadfast leadership and vision for India’s emergence as a global power, and the exemplary contribution made by him for the advancement of the India-United States strategic partnership and promoting global peace and prosperity.
The Order of the Druk Gyalpo Class I by Bhutan in 2021
Prime Minister Modi is the first foreign Head of Government to receive Bhutan’s highest civilian honour. The award is the pinnacle of the honour system in Bhutan, taking precedence over all orders, decorations and medals.
The award was presented by HM, The King of Bhutan, in recognition of PM Modi’s outstanding contribution to the growth of India Bhutan relations and for his distinguished services to the Bhutanese nation and people.
