NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be fake.

On closely observing the viral message, we found there were several errors in the message. Following are some of the examples:

  1. The spelling of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ is written as ‘Koun Banega Carorepati’.
  2. WhatsApp was written in all small letters.
  3. Instead of 25 lakhs or Rs 25,000,00, it was written ‘25,000,00 Lacs’ without mentioning the currency.
  4. The spelling of manager is written as ‘Manger’

We found the message is viral since 2020. A Facebook user had shared the same post on December 24, 2020.

We ran a search and found that Dainik Jagran had also done a story on this viral message on June 5, 2021, alerting readers to be wary of the message. The report also cautioned  readers against giving any personal details or information associated with banks or e-wallet citing that a similar case happened with a youth from Kurukshetra who was duped of Rs 1 lakh in the name of lottery money worth Rs 25 lakhs from KBC.

Delhi Cyber Cell also issued a warning against such messages.

Moreover, PIB Fact Check also refuted the viral message in a tweet. The tweet asked social media users to refrain from sharing any personal information with anyone who through phone, email or message ask any details in the name of the Rs 25,00,000 lottery.

Thus, we can ascertain that the viral message is a scam and social media users should be wary of any such message.
