An image of a Hindi newspaper clipping is being widely shared on social media platforms targeting the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh. The newspaper clipping has a headline in Hindi that translates to, “DM sir, I want to study but my teacher sends me away.”
A Facebook user shared the image with a caption in Hindi that roughly translates to, “#Brahmin teacher is not giving admission to Ramanuj Yadav in school. He says, ′Go work in the field.’ This is how #Hindus are being saved in Uttar Pradesh today. We will not say Jai Shriram in Yogi raj now.”
The same newspaper clipping is also doing rounds on Twitter.
FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral image and found it to be shared with a misleading claim.
With the help of Reverse Image Search, we found the same news clipping shared on Facebook on September 19, 2016.
Taking a hint from this and on performing relevant keyword searches, we found a report on the same incident published on Sabrang website on September 20, 2016, giving the same details as in the viral news clipping.
As per the report, a boy named Ramanuj Yadav wrote a letter to UP’s Gonda District Magistrate complaining about a teacher who was not allowing him to take admission in the school and used to send him away after insulting him.
Incidentally, BJP formed its government in Uttar Pradesh in March 2017 and the incident reported in viral clipping took place in September 2016.
Therefore, the claim being shared with the viral news clipping is misleading.
