Fact Check: This Screengrab Claimimg That Age Limit For Army Recruitment 2022 Has Been Increased Is Fake

A screenshot of a news bulletin with the logo “Zee News” has gone viral on social media claiming that the maximum age limit for the post of Soldier, General Duty, of the Indian Army has now been increased from 21 to 23 years.

The text embedded in the viral screenshot can be translated in English to, “Army Recruitment 2022 new rule age relaxation of 2 years Army GD. The hard work of lakhs of youth across the country has paid off”.

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be FALSE.

Firstly, we did a keyword search but could not find any credible news article corroborating the viral claim.

During our search, we could find several articles that refuted the viral claim stating “Age limit has not been relaxed for Indian Army recruitment: PIB Fact Check.” Check similar news reports here and here

Taking a cue from this, we searched and came across a tweet by the Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau in which it was clarified that “There is no such change in the age limit.”

Looking closely at the viral screenshot, we could figure out that the image is morphed. We could not find any such media report published on Zee News. We also compared the viral screenshot with the original bulletin of Zee News and found many discrepancies between the headline and the thin strip.

Thus, it is evident from the above information that a screenshot of a news channel claiming that the maximum age limit for the post of Soldier General Duty of the Indian Army has now been increased from 21 to 23 years was morphed.
