The caption of one such Facebook post carrying the viral document reads, “Emergency Advisory Issued In Kashmir, All non-locals to be brought to Police and army Camp, Order copy goes viral on social media platforms.”

Starting with our investigation, we did a keyword search but could not find any credible news article corroborating the viral claim. Had such a decision been taken in Kashmir, it would have been covered by media.
However, we found a news article published by the Hindustan Times on October 17, 2021, which stated, “J&K Police clarify no order issued to shift non-locals to security camps.”
Searching further, we found a tweet by the Kashmir Zone Police in which it was clarified, “Order asking district police authorities to relocate non-local labourers to Police/Army camps is fake: IGP Kashmir.”
