Chacha Chaudhary Declared Mascot For Namami Gange Programme

The Union Jal Shakti Ministry has declared the Indian comic character–‘Chacha Chaudhary’ the mascot of the governments’ ‘Namami Gange programme’.

The decision, being an effort of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), aims to change children’s behaviour towards Ganga and other rivers and to raise awareness on the importance of rivers. 

Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, NMCG Director-General said “NMCG has always been into community engagement with special focus on youth and children. This association will be one more step towards it.”

The NMCG has partnered with Diamond Toons to develop and distribute comics, e-comics, and animated videos. The NMCG has been focusing on youth as part of its outreach and public relations efforts. The project’s overall budget is expected to be Rs 2.26 crore.

According to the release from the Jal Shakti Ministry, “The NMCG has been focusing on youth as part of its outreach and public communications efforts as they are the impellers of change. As a step towards this, NMCG has tied-up with Diamond Toons to develop and distribute comics, e-comics, and animated videos.”

During the NMCG’s executive committee meeting on Wednesday, certain major projects in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were also discussed.
