A post is going viral on social media claiming that the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has started a new electric cab service that would cost only ₹ 4.50 per km.
“BEST in Mumbai has started this Electric Taxi today at Ghatkopar. Rate ₹.4.50 per km,” the Facebook post read.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.
Firstly we looked for media reports regarding the same but could find anything substantial to support the claim.
However, while searching, we did find a tweet by BEST Bus Transport regarding the viral message. The tweet stated that the viral news is fake.

The tweet also had a press release in Marathi. “BEST has not started any such service and does not plan to in the future. Thus, BEST requests Mumbai’s citizens to NOT share this image and believe in this fake news,” a statement from the release read.
Hence, from the above statement, it is clear that the viral message is fake.
