Vande Bharat Flights Bring 72 Lakh Expatriates To India: Aviation Ministry Tells Rajya Sabha

Vande Bharat flights have brought more than 72 lakh stranded Indians residing in over 100 countries back to the nation by July 29, 2021, Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh told Rajya Sabha.

Singh responded to a question raised by Badulgula Lingaiah Yadav, a Rajya Sabha MP from Telangana about the response of Vande Bharat Mission.

Singh replied, “As on 29.07.2021, more than 88,700 inbound flights have been operated and over 72 lakh passengers have returned to India from more than 100 countries. In the same period, more than 88,000 outbound flights have been operated and over 58 lakh passengers have traveled from India to foreign countries.”

Vande Bharat Mission was an initiative by the Indian government on May 6, 2020, amid the first wave of coronavirus pandemic to repatriate Indians who were stuck in different countries across the globe and also provide help to those stranded in India to return back to their nation.
