FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found that the claim is fake.

We ran a keyword search and found the official website of the US Currency Education Program. The website stated that the American 100 dollar note has changed four times but all of them carried the image of Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.

Further, we found various websites that allow switching the image on the American 100 dollar note with any other picture. On one such website, Five Squid, we found a note with the same serial number as the one in the viral post.

On comparing both the notes, it becomes clear that the note in the post has been created on the above website.

Lastly, we looked for media reports from reliable sources to substantiate the claim but could not find anything even close to the above claim.

This proves that the viral post is fake as Basavanna’s picture is not printed on the American 100 dollar note.
