The Madhya Pradesh Model Of COVID-19 Management

Date:

As the new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from Monday, Madhya Pradesh administered 16,73,858 COVID-19 vaccine doses, the highest ever among states in the country in a single day so far.

According to a statement issued by the Madhya Pradesh government, a total of 3,75,962 vaccine doses were administered in the Bhopal division which includes 8 districts – Betul, Bhopal, Harda, Hoshangabad, Raisen, Rajgarh, Sehore, and Vidisha on Monday, as part of state’s ‘Vaccination Mahaabhiyan’ campaign that coincided with the International Day of Yoga.

With the commencement of the centralised free vaccination policy, India administered 80,95,314 doses on the first day of the new phase of COVID-19 Vaccination in a landmark achievement.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan informed that the state government has set up 7,000 centres under the ‘Vaccination Mahaabhiyan’ campaign to intensify the inoculation drive.

Speaking to the media, Chouhan said, “On one hand we are strengthening healthcare infrastructure and conducting maximum testing, and on the other hand, we have to ensure mass vaccination.”

Meanwhile, over two lakh people received COVID-19 vaccine shot in MP’s Indore, setting a record for the highest number of vaccinations in a single day for any district in the country.

The state recorded 89 new COVID cases, 19 deaths, and 304 recoveries on Monday.

In order to flatten the COVID infection curve, Madhya Pradesh adopted the ‘public participation model’ which included public representatives of all political parties. With this initiative, “Janata Curfew” was implemented, which helped break the chain of infection. Public support was also sought in tracing and testing.

By involving public representatives, the spread of corona infection villages was reduced.

Earlier PM Modi has also appreciated the public participation model adopted by Madhya Pradesh for corona management.

Meanwhile, the state has also launched several welfare schemes for COVID19 victims.

Mukhya Mantri Covid-19 Bal Sewa Yojana

The scheme that came into effect on May 21 focuses on supporting children orphaned due to COVID and enabling them to lead a normal life. The state will take care of the education, food, and financial security of such children.

Under the scheme, children will get free school education in Govt schools and assistance for their undergraduate-level courses in Central and all other universities and colleges in the state.

Beneficiaries under the scheme will also be provided financial assistance of Rs. 5000 per month.

Compassionate job and welfare schemes for kin of deceased Govt staff

The state has also implemented two compassionate appointment schemes, Mukhya Mantri COVID19 Anukampa Niyukti Yojana and Mukhya Mantri COVID19 Vishesh Anugram Yojana for the welfare of employees and their families.

Under the schemes, all regular employees, daily wage earners, Adhoc, contractual, collector rate, and those working as outsourced employees will be benefitted. In the event of the death of these employees from COVID infection, an eligible member of their family will be given a compassionate appointment in the same type of employment while their families will be eligible for an ex gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh as immediate financial assistance in the event of sudden death due to the novel virus.
