FACT CHECK

NewsMobile did a fact check and found that the viral claim is misleading.

On searching with the keywords, ‘Pak Hindu in Rajasthan, coronavirus vaccine’, we found a report published by The Indian Express on May 27, 2021.

According to the report, Pakistani Hindu migrants living in Jodhpur Rajasthan, one of the major hubs of migrant Hindus, have appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be allowed to be vaccinated based on their travel document. The report said that they were not vaccinated as they did not have an Aadhaar card, which is required for taking the jab.

The Times of India in its report published on May 12, 2021, quoted Antar Singh Nehra, district collector, Jaipur, who said that the power to exempt any rule for vaccination of migrants lies in the hands of the central government.

A case was also registered in Rajasthan High Court seeking vaccination for migrant minorities in Rajasthan who do not have an Aadhaar card. Live Law on June 4, 2021, reported that Rajasthan High Court had asked the state government to give an explanation as to why the Pakistani minority migrants residing in the state are not getting vaccine doses and rations despite the court’s order given on May 28.

On June 9, 2021, Outlook reported that a vaccination drive for Hindu migrants in Rajasthan started following the instructions of the High Court. The drive is based on the revised SOP provided by the Centre on May 6, according to which Pakistani migrants are eligible for COVID-19 vaccines without a prescribed identity card. The report quoted Barmer collector Lok Bandhu, who said, “We have set up a special camp to vaccinate those Pakistani Hindu migrants who do not have Aadhar cards. So far, we have vaccinated 18 such migrants falling in the age group of above 45 years. We will soon vaccinate the rest, who fall under the category of 18-45 years.”

Were The Rohingyas Vaccinated In Rajasthan?

An Outlook report published on June 5, 2021, said that Rohingyas living in Rajasthan were not able to get the coronavirus vaccine as they did not have an Aadhaar card, which is essential for vaccination in India. The report quoted Prithvipal Singh, the SHO of Sadar police station under whose jurisdiction one of the settlements falls, as saying, “So far none of the Rohingya refugees living in Jaipur have been vaccinated. However, as far as ration is concerned, the local NGOs are helping them.”

Searching with keywords on Google, we did not find any media report that said a special vaccination drive was arranged for Rohingyas in Rajasthan.

A report by The Times of India dated May 29, 2021, said that the state Health Department issued a notice asking private organisers and NGOs to organise a special vaccination drive for persons with disabilities (PwD) above the age of 18 years. According to the notice, private organisers and NGOs can seek special vaccination camps if have at least 100 PwDs registered at their centre.

However, we found no media reports stating that a special vaccination drive was arranged for Rohingyas in Rajasthan.

Hence, we can conclude that the viral claim is misleading and false.
