FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be false.

With the help of keyword search, we found that posts with similar claims about changes in Indian Railways from July 1 have been in circulation on social media since 2015. These posts can be seen here, here and here.

Further, we found a report by NDTV published on June 24, 2016, stating that there are no changes in the ticketing rules from July 1.

The report stated that the social media claims are false and there are no such new changes being introduced by the Railways.

We also found a press release by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the nodal agency of the Government of India, published on June 30, 2017. The headline of the release read, “The News in circulation about new changes by Railways from 1st July, 2017 is incorrect“.

The release clarified that the news is totally incorrect and baseless. It further stated while some rules like running Suvidha Class in trains and staggered timings for booking AC and non-AC Tatkal tickets have been in existence since 2015, the other proposals like discontinuing paper tickets for Shatabdi and Rajdhani trains, printing tickets in regional languages and running duplicate trains are false. The release can be read here.

Further, we looked for press releases and media reports to check if there is any list of these rules issued by the Railways recently but we could not find any report from any reliable source to corroborate the claim. Our search for any press release issued by the government about these purported rules also drew a blank.

Hence, social media claims about Indian Railways introducing 10 new changes are false.
