A post is being shared on social media with a claim that Amritsar’s Sri Harmandir Sahib i.e the Golden Temple will bear complete expenses of oxygen, medicines and ventilators for the entire state of Punjab.
“Amritsar Golden temple has announced that the entire expense of oxygen, medicines and ventilators in whole of Punjab will be borne by the golden temple,” the post on Facebook read.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.
Firstly, we ran a keyword search to see if any prominent media organisations have published a report on this, but did not find any.
Further investigation into the matter led us to a tweet by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, responsible for the management of gurdwaras. In the tweet, dated May 8, 2021, they refuted the viral claim.
Reply to the same tweet by Shobha De, an Indian columnist and novelist, the Gurdwara Committee tweeted, “Fake message on social media and internet. No such announcement made by Sri Harmandar Sahib, Sri Amritsar or SGPC. We are serving #Covid19 patients by setting up #CovidCareCentres with #oxygenconcentrators facility at our Gurdwaras.”
“Two centres set-up so far i.e. 25-bed facility at Gurdwara Manji Sahib, Alamgir, Ludhiana on May 6 and 50-bed facility at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda on May 8. More likely to come at Bholath and Patiala in Punjab, depending on availability of doctors,” they added.
