FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be misleading.

Using keyword search, we found the viral video on YouTube dated December 1, 2018. The description of the video reads, “8:30 a.m. local time, A 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Anchorage Alaska, look how scary sound in my house close to the Ted Stevens Airport.”

According to media reports, a major earthquake of magnitude 7.0 had struck Anchorage city in Alaska on November 30, 2018, injuring many and severely damaging buildings. The time stamp on the YouTube video also suggests that it was shot on November 30, 2018.

We could not independently verify the location and origin of the video, but from the above information, it is evident that the video has been present on the internet since December 2018.

Hence, it has no relation to the recent earthquake in Assam. Thus, the viral claim is misleading.
