COVID-19 | Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas Set Up Fundraiser for India; Akshay Kumar, Other Celebs Lend Helping Hand

Many Bollywood celebrities and TV actors are coming forward and lending a helping hand and expressing solidarity in the time of the COVID-19 crisis. While some are using social media to amplify SOS requests and are sharing information regarding oxygen cylinders, hospital beds, medicines, ambulances, others are donating plasma, money and some are even providing meals to people in these tough times.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas are working to help India amid its ongoing struggle with COVID-19. The couple teamed up with GiveIndia to organize a fundraiser for India.

“Over the past month we have seen the sudden rise and ravaging effects of Covid-19 as it has blazed in unrelenting parts across India,” Priyanaks says in the video, adding more to it, Nick says, “The magnitude is staggering. So much is needed right now to stop the spread of this dreaded disease.” Priyanka continues: “Even as the medics learn more about the virus, the threat continues to loom.”

Gautam Gambhir reveals Akshay Kumar donated Rs 1 crore

Gautam Gambhir revealed on Twitter that Akshay Kumar has donated Rs 1 crore to the former cricketer’s foundation. The money has been donated to help people affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic. Gambhir wrote, “Every help in this gloom comes as a ray of hope. Thanks a lot @akshaykumar for committing Rs 1 crore to #GGF for food, meds and oxygen for the needy! God bless (sic).”

Last year when the COVID outbreak began in India, Sood came into the limelight for helping and sending migrant workers home. This time, he’s using all his time and energy on social media to send SOS requests.

Gurmeet Choudhary opening hospitals

Inspired by Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary is making efforts to help people in dire need. The actor recently assembled a team and circulated a number on social media asking people to reach out to him for help.

The actor took to social media to announce, “I have decided I will be opening ultra modern 1000 bed hospital in Patna and Lucknow for the common man. Followed by other cities. Need your blessings and Support. Jai Hind.”
