Fact Check: Old Pic Of One Of The Biggest COVID-19 Centres In Delhi Viral As That Of Indore’s

Date:

A post accompanied by a picture claiming that it shows the 2000 bed COVID-19 hospital built in the Radha Swami Satsang area of Indore is doing the rounds on social media.

The post was shared on Facebook with a caption in Hindi, “इंदौर के राधा स्वामी सत्संग क्षेत्र में 2000 बेड का कोविड हॉस्पिटल बनाया गया। जी हाँ हमने इसीलिए मंदिर के नाम पर वोट दिया था… क्योंकि हम जानते हैं संसार में केवल सनातन धर्म ही एकमात्र वो धर्म है जो आपको आचरण देता है जो इस लोक से लेकर उस लोक तक आपका कभी साथ नहीं छोड़ता…!!”

(Translation: 2000 bed Covid hospital built in Radha Swami Satsang area of Indore. Yes, that’s why we voted in the name of the temple… because we know that only Sanatan Dharma in the world is the only religion that gives you conduct which never leaves you from this world to that world…!! )

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral claim and found it to be misleading.

We started our investigation by doing a reverse image search and found the same picture in a news article by Deccan Herald. The article published on July 5, 2020, stated that a COVID Center was built at Radha Swami Satsang, Delhi which was roughly the size of 20 football fields.

We could also find many other news articles which carried the same viral image stating that it is a COVID-19 Center built at Radha Swami Satsang, Delhi.

From the above information, it is evident that an old image of Delhi’s COVID centre is being shared as that of Indore’s.

We also tried to find out if any 2000-bed CPOVID-19 centre had been made in Indore recently. We found a news article dated April 22, 2021, which reported that 600 beds were set up in the first phase in Radha Swami Satsang Complex.

A report by Live Mint quoted the Covid-19 nodal officer as saying, “We are making arrangements for 500 beds in the first phase. There will be 10 blocks, each comprising 50 beds. Every block will have a doctor, nurse and other medical staff members. In the second phase, we will increase the number of beds to 1000 and if need arises, we can even think of exceeding the number of beds to 2000.”

Hence, from the above fact check, it is clear that the viral post is misleading.
