FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the claim and found it to be misleading.

We did a Reverse Image Search of the picture and found it in a regional news article dated April 13, 2021, featuring the same image. The article reported about the spike in COVID-19 cases and deaths due to coronavirus.

The headline of the news article clearly states that the image is from Bhopal and not Gujarat.

Another report by news channel NDTV, also published a similar image of the same crematorium while reporting about COVID-19 related deaths in Madhya Pradesh. “At the Bhadbhada crematorium in Bhopal, people say they have not witnessed such scenes since the 1984 Bhopal Gas tragedy,” reads an excerpt from the article.

Below is the comparison between the viral image and the one carried in the aforementioned report.

Images of the same crematorium have been used in several other articles.

Thus, the post claiming that the viral image of a crematorium is from Gujarat is misleading. The image is actually of Bhadbhada crematorium in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
