In the purported letter, addressed to Uttarakhand Chief Secretary, Doval complimented him “in handling the situation during Kumbh Mela”.

The letter ends by stating that his efforts for the successful conduct of Kumbh Mela would ensure a religious atmosphere in the state, help to maintain order and promote Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ideology in the future as well.

NewsMobile fact-checked the above letter and found it to be FAKE.

Refuting the letter, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval confirmed exclusively to NewsMobile that the letter in circulation is fake.

Kumbh In Times Of COVID-19

The duration of the Kumbh festival being held in Haridwar has been shortened to 30 days this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Kumbh is held periodically at four different locations in India — Nashik, Haridwar, Prayagraj, and Ujjain. Under normal circumstances, Kumbh continues for nearly four months but this year due to COVID-19 pandemic, the duration of the congregation has been curtailed to one month.

Hence, as per our investigation and direct rebuttal from NSA Ajit Doval, we can clearly say that the letter in circulation is false.
