A gruesome video of a man stabbing a woman in broad daylight is doing rounds on social media with a claim that journalist Pragya Mishra was murdered for reporting on Kumbh Mela.
A user shared the post with a caption, “Pragya mishra murdered in road daylight. Because she was talking in news about kumbh mela in the era of cornavirus.” (sic)

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found that the claim attached to the video is false.
We ran a Reverse Image Search on the keyframes from the video and found a snapshot of the video in a report published by India Today on April 10, 2021. The headline of the report read, ‘Blinded by rage, man stabs wife repeatedly in Delhi’s Rohini as bystanders record incident’.
As per the report, the 26-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her husband at a market in Delhi on April 10, 2021. The man stabbed her 25 times over suspicion of her having an illicit affair.
We found another report by NDTV published on April 10, 2021. The headline read, ‘Woman Stabbed 25 Times By Husband In Delhi Market, Dies’
The report stated that the chilling footage of the incident in public was shot in northwest Delhi’s Budh Vihar. The accused, who works in a marriage bureau, has been arrested.

We further found a tweet by journalist Pragya Mishra dated April 18, 2021. The tweet read, “Friends, who are spreading the news of my death, tell them by sharing this video of me that I am ‘alive’.”
