In a major push to the world’s largest vaccination drive underway in India, the Centre has announced liberalised and accelerated Phase 3 strategy of COVID-19 vaccination from May 1, in which everyone above the age of 18 years will be eligible to get a vaccine.
Under Phase 3 of the COVID-19 vaccination strategy, vaccine manufacturers would supply 50% of their monthly Central Drugs Laboratory released doses to the government and would be free to supply the remaining 50% doses to State Govts and in the open market.
So far, the government had allowed vaccinations only for frontline workers and those above 45 years of age.
