FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be fake.

We did a Reverse Image Search and found the first picture in stock images on a website called Shutterstock.

The Credit of the image was given to a photographer named Itor. He’s a Ukraine based photographer. The caption of the image reads, “Green fresh hop cones for making beer and bread”. That means although the image is actually of hop shoots, it is not of fresh cultivation in Bihar as claimed in the viral post.

We also found this picture in an article published on April 3, 2018.

So, it is clear that this picture was already present on the internet and it is not a recent picture.

When we searched the internet with the keyword “Crop of 1 Lakh”, we also came across many media reports refuting that the viral post is fake.

Some of the media reports can be read here and here.

Also, according to a report the Jagran English, ‘as soon as the news of Hop Shoots cultivation went viral, Agricultural Department officials visited the farm to check. However, they were shocked to find that no such farming was taking place.’

Hence, from the above information, it is clear that the viral claim about a farmer from Bihar cultivating hop-shoots is Fake.
