As the number of COVID-19 cases sees a spurt across different states in India, various posts regarding lockdowns and restrictions have started flooding social media.

An image is being shared on social media claiming that Haryana government has announced a lockdown on weekends in the state to contain the spread of coronavirus.

“Complete lockdown in Haryana on Saturday and Sunday… People got upset after reading this news”, reads the Facebook post.

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found the claims attached to it to be misleading.

Firstly, we ran a Google search based on these keywords but did not find any recent reports stating Haryana has announced weekend lockdown.

Further, we found that the Haryana government had announced a weekend lockdown in 2020 to contain the spread of COVID-19.

At the time of filing the report, no such recent announcement was made by the Haryana government.

Earlier too, NewsMobile has debunked misleading reports about lockdown in different states where information from 2020 is being circulated as recent guidelines.
