Fact Check: This Photo Of Haryana CM ML Khattar With Former CM & Cong Leader BS Hooda Is Old

After the recent no-confidence motion was defeated in Haryana assembly, a picture of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar with former Haryana CM and Congress leader Bhupinder  Singh Hooda started making rounds on social media.

“आज की यह फोटो बता रही है कि कौन किससे मिला हुआ है…!!!
सियासत में दो मुंहे सांप ज्यादा हो गए हैं…” the facebook post read.

(Translation: Today’s photo shows who are have teamed up … politics have given rise to a lot of two-faced snakes)

FACT CHECK 

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found that the picture is old.

A simple Reverse Image Search on the picture led us to an article on a website indiasopinion.in dated July 28, 2020, featuring the same image.

We also found the same image on Outlook. The picture was credited to PTI and the caption read, “Newly-elected Haryana Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Ranbir Singh Gangwa Prajapati being greeted by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda during state Assembly Session, in Chandigarh.”

An article by Deccan Herald, dated November 26 2019, also featured the same image.

The caption of the picture read: Newly-elected Haryana Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Ranbir Singh Gangwa Prajapati being greeted by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda during state Assembly Session, in Chandigarh, Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019. From the above information, it is clear that the picture in circulation is from 2019 and hence, the post in circulation is misleading.
