The agitating farmers will block the 135-km-long Western Peripheral Expressway, also known as Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, from 11 am to 4 pm on Saturday to mark 100 days of agitation against the Centre’s farm laws.
Earlier on Friday, the women farmers protesting against the Centre’s three agricultural laws at Delhi’s borders for over three months have featured on the international cover of Time magazine’s March edition.

Earlier, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) condemned the Income Tax Department’s raids on premises of Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and others yesterday, claiming that the Centre was trying to harass supporters of the agitation against farm reform laws.
Meanwhile, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Thursday asserted that new farm laws will enhance farmers’ income adding that agricultural is the backbone of the country’s economic growth.
“Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) Yojana, about 1.15 lakh crore rupees are deposited in the bank accounts of about 1.75 crore farmers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the vision to increase the income of farmers and the development of the agricultural sector. We understand that, if we don’t have prosperous farmers, we can’t develop a good economy of the country.” Tomar said while speaking at an event.
Besides, several of Delhi’s borders with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh (UP) remained closed for passenger movement on Thursday due to the ongoing farmers’ protest against the Centre’s three new farm laws.
The farmers have announced that their leaders would visit poll-bound states and seek votes in favour of parties contesting against the BJP.
Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of the unions, also decided to launch “MSP Dilao Abhiyan” (get us MSP campaign) across the country – an attempt to widen their support base beyond Punjab, Haryana and western UP.
The farmers are protesting against the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
