Coronavirus LIVE Updates | PM Modi Gets Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin Jab, Vaccine Registration Opens Today At Co-Win 2.0 Portal

India today commenced the next phase of the world’s largest Covid-19 vaccination drive for the age-appropriate population groups. Registration for the same opens at 9:00 am, for citizens to register and book appointments for vaccination, anytime and anywhere, using the COWIN 2.0 portal or through other IT applications such as Arogya Setu etc.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday took the first dose of Covaxin, India’s homegrown coronavirus vaccine developed by biotechnology firm Bharat Biotech and Indian Council of Medical Research, addressing the hesitancy over the COVID-19 vaccine.

PM Modi took the first dose of the vaccine at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi. “Took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS,” PM Modi tweeted with his picture of receiving the jab.
“Remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19,” the Prime Minister added.

Also, India reports 15,510 new corona cases, 11,288 discharges and 106 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry Total cases. The total recover cases in the country now stands at 1,10,96,731, total discharges at 1,07,86,457 with 1,57,157 deaths so far. The active cases count in India is 1,68,627 with more than 1 crore vaccinated against the virus.

Meanwhile, the restrictions on international passenger flights have been extended till March 31, aviation watchdog Directorate General of Civil Aviation or DGCA said in a statement on Friday.

The global COVID-19 cases have climbed to 113 million, while the death toll due to the virus crossed 2.5 million, according to Johns Hopkins University.
