A picture of a man holding a poster in his hands is being shared on social media. The poster states that Rajasthan government has imposed more taxes on fuel than the Centre.
“पेट्रोल डीजल पर मोदी जी 16 रुपये ले रहे है और गेहलोत 40 रुपये फिर भी 16 रुपये लेने वाले मोदी इनका दुश्मन है और गेहलोत इनका दोस्त,” the text on the placard read.
(Translation: On petrol-diesel, Modi Ji is taking 16 rupees and Gehlot 40 rupees, yet Modi, who takes 16 rupees, is the enemy and Gehlot is the friend.)

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be morphed.
On putting the picture through Google Reverse Image Search we found that the same picture was shared by multiple users on Twitter in December 2019, during the CCA-NRC protests. The post links can be seen here and here.
We can see that in the above picture, the text is in support of CAA- NRC and has nothing to do with rising fuel prices.
We also found the original picture on ‘The Strife‘ showing a page along with many pictures of protestors holding placards during CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) and NRC (National Register of Citizens) protests in the gallery section of the page.
Moreover, we found that the same picture was earlier edited and shared on social media with different quotes.
In August 2020, NewsMobile debunked the same image which was being circulated with a quote regarding inefficiency of Mumbai Police for Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.

NewsMobile independently couldn’t verify the origin of the picture but it is clear that the picture has been on the internet since 2019.
Hence, from the above information, it is clear that the post in circulation is morphed.
