FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.
We ran a keyword search and found an article by TOI from March 2020. The headline of the article read: Here’s what the colour mark on a toothpaste tube actually means.
“…the coloured markers on the end of the toothpaste tubes have nothing to do with the ingredients of the toothpaste. They are simply made for assisting in the manufacturing process,” the article reported.
Issuing a clarification on the same, Colgate wrote: They actually help in the manufacturing of the toothpaste tubes by telling light sensors where the end of the tube is so that it can be cut and sealed properly. We know, it’s not as exciting as a secret code, but we think the truth is pretty cool too.
The blog post also mentioned that ‘the ingredients are usually printed on the packaging, either on the tube itself or on the box it came in.’
Hence, from the above information, it is clear that that viral post is false and the colour bar at the bottom of the toothpaste does not tell us anything about the ingredient.
