Second Phase Of Covid-19 Vaccination Drive Begins: All You Need To Know

Date:

Phase 2 of the coronavirus vaccination drive began Monday morning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking the first jab of Covaxin at the AIIMS.

People who want to get vaccinated in the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination will have to register on the Co-WIN platform.

The Central government released a new framework for Co-WIN2.0 on Sunday.
According to the new framework, the schedule of vaccination of eligible beneficiaries will be closely linked with the availability of vaccine doses. The states and Union Territories will determine the target number of doses to be administered in a vaccination cycle.

The vaccination will be free at the government facilities and paid at the private facilities.

Eligibility Criteria

Anyone above the age of 60 years, or above the age of 45 with existing illnesses that make them more vulnerable to Covid-19, will be allowed to sign up to receive coronavirus vaccines from March 1.

Empowered Group chairman RS Sharma Said that people above 60 years will only have to validate their identity and for those between 45-60 years, a co-morbidity certificate is required.

“For people above 60 years, no extra document required, they will have to validate their identity via Aadhaar card, driving licence, voter identity card, passport, and PAN card when they visit the centre as they are not accepted online. For those between 45-60 years, a co-morbidity certificate is required. For those without internet, an on-the-spot registration option is provided,” Sharma said.

Registration Process

With a digital push, both online and on-the-spot registration will be available for the people. Registrations can be done for four people from one mobile app. People can also get themselves registered through the Aarogya Setu app by verifying One Time Passwords (OTPs).

2.5 lakh Common Service Centres in every Panchayat have been opened which have proper internet facilities through which the registrations can be done. If none of the facilities are available, then people may directly visit the vaccination centre along with required documents and get themselves registered.

How To Register

Open the Co-Win app or go to the website cowin.gov.in. Once you are on the page, you can enter your mobile number or your Aadhar number. You would receive an OTP with which your account will be created.

Documents needed and cost

People will need to upload a photo identity in order to register. It can be an Aadhar Card, Driving License, PAN Card, and others.

Cost of vaccination at hospitals?

Vaccination will be provided free of cost across all government hospitals in the country. The government has further informed that getting inoculated at private hospitals will not be free of cost.

States have been informed that private hospitals functioning as CVCs can charge subject to a ceiling of Rs 250 per person per dose along with the electronic and financial management mechanism in this regard.
