At least six people were killed and several injured in a blast at a firecracker factory near Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu on Thursday.
The injured were admitted to the Sivakasi government hospital. The blast started in a shed while workers were filling chemicals for manufacturing crackers.

Firefighters reached the spot soon after the blast and are now attempting to ensure no further chemical blasts are triggered by the flames.
Earlier this month, another fire in a firecracker factory had wreaked havoc in Virudhunagar, in which the death toll has mounted to 19 and as many as 30 people were critically injured at a massive fire.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had announced ex-gratia amounts of Rs 3 lakhs each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh each to the critically injured in the fire in a firecracker’s factory in Virudhunagar.
