Fact Check: Old Video From Varanasi Shared As Under-Construction Bridge Collapse In Hyderabad

A video of a bridge-collapse is being shared on social media with a claim that the Balanagar-Jeedimetla flyover in Hyderabad has collapsed.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the video and found that it is old.

We extracted keyframes from the video and put them through Reverse Image Search. We found a report by Associated Press from 2018 featuring an image from the same accident.

According to the report the incident took place in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh on May 15, 2018, where an under-construction flyover collapsed.

Based on this, we ran a keyword search and found multiple media reports from 2018 on the same. The reports can be seen here, here, here and here.

We also found tweets by Telangana State Police and Cyberabad Police, clarifying that the video is NOT from Telangana.
