A picture containing a tweet is being widely shared on social media with a claim that it was posted by Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh.
“ਦਲਜੀਤ ਦੋਸਾਂਝ ਦਾ ਟਵੀਟ, ਸ਼ੇਅਰ ਕਰੋ ਸਾਰੇ,” the heading of the picture read in punjabi language.

“किसान भी सीधे तेल कंपनियों से पेट्रोल डीजल खरीदना चाहते हैं! बीच के बिचौलियों को खत्म करो, 35र में पेट्रोल,25 में डीजल दो! #SupportFarmersProtest,” the tweet in the picture read.
(Rough Translation: “Farmers also want to buy petrol diesel directly from oil companies! Eliminate middlemen, petrol in 35R, diesel in 25!”)

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to be fake.
We got our first hint when we saw the username of the account from which the tweet was being claimed to have been posted. The username read @Diljitdosaanjh, however, Diljit’s surname is spelt as ‘Dosanjh’ and not ‘Dosaanjh’.
We searched for this username on Twitter and could not find any account.
We then went to the official Twitter account of Diljit Dosanjh which is @diljitdosanjh.
After scanning the account, we could not find the tweet in question on Diljit’s timeline as well.
We then ran a keyword search to find media reports about such a tweet posted by Diljit, but could not find any.
Hence, based on the above information, we can say that the tweet in question is fake and the posts are misleading.
