Date:

A picture of people forming a lotus depicting the BJP party symbol is being shared on social media with a claim that it was taken during the recent rally of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Kerala.

“Pic of the day from #Kerala #KeralaWelcomesYogiJi,” the Facebook post read.

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.

We put the image through Reverse Image Search and found the same picture in an article dated May 17, 2015.

Another search led us to the same picture published in an Indian Express article from 2015 as well. The headline of the article read, ‘BJP forms ‘human flag’ in Dahod to celebrate 35th foundation day’.

The picture was captioned, “More than 25,000 people form BJP flag as Chief Minister Anandiben Patel reads out the party’s “Panch Nishtha pledge” on its 35th foundation day, in Dahod on Monday. (Source: Express Photo by Bhupendra Rana).”

A similar picture from the same event was also shared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 6, 2015, on Twitter.

“An innovative way to mark BJP’s ‘Sthapana Diwas.’ Congrats to the Karyakartas,” he tweeted.

We also looked for any recent reports regarding the viral claim but could not find anything to support the claim.

Hence, from the above information, it is clear that it is an old picture and is being shared with false claims.
