Opposition Tears Into Centre Over Rising Fuel Prices, Shiv Sena Puts Up ‘Yahi Acche Din?’ Banners In Mumbai

Date:

As the prices of petrol and diesel in the country are on a constant rise, opposition leaders are leaving no stone unturned to slam the government over hefty tax rates on fuel.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that the Union government is doing a great job of emptying public pocket and giving it to ‘friends’ for free.

“While re-filling oil in the car on the petrol pump, when you look at the fast-rising meter, must remember that the price of crude oil has not increased, but it has decreased. Petrol is Rs 100/liter. The Modi government is doing a great job of emptying your pockets and giving it to ‘friends’ for free!” the Congress leader tweeted. This comes as the prices of petrol and diesel are increasing continuously for several days and in some states, the price of petrol has even crossed Rs 100 mark.

The youth wing of Shiv Sena has put up banners stating ‘Yahi hai acche din?’ at various petrol pumps and roadside in Mumbai, in a bid to register their protest against the BJP-led NDA government at the centre.

This comes as the prices of petrol and diesel are increasing continuously for several days and in some states, the price of petrol has even crossed Rs 100 mark. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had termed “less fuel production by manufacturing countries to gain more profit”, as one of the reasons behind the price hike.

Congress Members of Legislative Assembly PC Sharma, Jitu Patwari and Kunal Chaudhary rode bicycles to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in protest against rising fuel prices.

“All MLAs will protest against the rise in petrol and diesel prices at the Gandhi statue tomorrow. Narendra Modi told people that he will give petrol at 30 Rs and now look at where the country is heading,” said Jitu Patwari He also took a swipe at Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan saying,” The Petroleum minister is saying that fuel prices are not in his hands and it is in God’s hands”.
