FACT CHECK
We fact-checked the above post and found that the claim is fake.
On putting the relevant keywords and doing a Google search, we found a report by All India Radio dated March 23, 2020, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to revolutionary freedom fighters – Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru on their death anniversary today.
We also found a YouTube video published by DD News on March 23, 2016. The title of the video read, “Martyrs’ day 23 March”.
As per the video, March 23 is celebrated as Martyr’s Day to remember the sacrifice of three extraordinary freedom fighters of India. On March 23, 1931, three freedom fighters- Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar– were hanged to death by the British.
The above information proves that the three freedom fighters were not hanged on February 14, 1931.
We further checked when did the British Government pass the verdict to execute Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. A Google search using keywords led us to Indian Culture website where we found the digitized version of the judgement and proceedings in the Lahore Conspiracy Case, 1930.
An excerpt from the document read, “The Judgement on the case was delivered on 7 October 1930 and the three main accused in the case- Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Shlvaram Rajguru were hanged on 23 March 1931.”
