A video of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi is being circulated on social media. It is being claimed that he is talking about settling in London.
In the video, Gandhi can be heard saying, “Nothing will happen, I will go settle in London. My children will study in the USA. I have nothing to do with India, I have thousands of crores of rupees, I can leave whenever.”
“अब बनाओ इस पप्पू को प्रधान मंत्री खुल्लमखुल्ला बोल रहा है ये झोपड़ीवाला इसको हिन्दुस्तान से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है वो अपने बच्चों को लेके लंदन चला जाएगा,” The Facebook post read. (sic)
(Translation: Now make this Pappu (Rahul Gandhi) the Prime Minister. He is openly speaking he has nothing to do with India, he will take his children to London)

We ran a keyword search and found the full version of the interview on the YouTube channel of Indian National Congress. The video was uploaded on October 13, 2019. The title of the video read, ‘Maharashtra Election 2019 | Shri Rahul Gandhi addresses public meeting in Latur, Maharashtra’.
After watching the video, we realised that viral clip in circulation had been cropped and was taken out of context. In the video, it is evident that Gandhi was talking about fugitives Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi who looted the country of thousands of crores of rupees and fled.
At 15:10 time code of the video, Gandhi says, “People like Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi sleep well without any fear and thing that nothing will happen, they will go settle in London. Their children will study in the USA. They have nothing to do with India, they have thousands of crores of rupees, they can leave whenever.”
Further, we did a Google search using relevant keywords to look for any reports mentioning the above statement but did not find anything remotely close to it.
Hence, it is evident that the video was cropped in a way to make it look as though Rahul Gandhi is talking about himself while talking about settling in London.
Hence, we can say that the videos in circulation are false.
