The 244-page book is, as mentioned by the author herself, a ‘Memoir’, which she has not written in order of any chronology, but as one reads deep into the chapters, one feels it to be like her personal listing of events that occurred from childhood to now.
Even though she doesn’t get into the nitty-gritty of everything, readers get a fair share of a detailed description of some of the major events of her life till now.
As a debut author, we must say PCJ has certainly made it both humorous and realistic. We not only get to understand the vast transformation she has gone through as a person but also how she expanded her bandwidth as a professional over the years. May it be acting, singing, dancing, or being a businesswoman.
The book begins with her toddler years as a girl child to her parents, both doctors. Belonging to a Military serving family and having her father posted to different locations in India, she developed adaptability early on.
She says she competed in the Miss India beauty pageant by chance, at the young age of 17. The Miss World title altered her life course completely and paved her path towards show business.
She beautifully describes her experiences, both good and bad, and paints them with colours of confidence, grace and positivity. She emphasises the aspect that “we never fail because we fail only when we give up”. Just like her father’s lifelong lesson she carries with herself “you going to drown or swim”, she has surged ahead in her career because of her hard work and persistence.
Throughout the book she has mentioned all the people she has learned from, worked, and has shared some bond with, at any point in her life. Including a big shout-out to Nick Jonas her husband. She describes how she may have learned many skills with practice but love, she definitely learned after meeting Nick.
Her continuous call to everyone, in general, is to dream and be greedy to achieve it, has definitely got us admiring her more. Her work with many organisations to spread awareness and her personal motto of providing people the opportunities and desired platform to perform brings forth her kind and humble approach. With her mother and her extended family as she calls them, by her side, her story, as she states, is far from finished.
