Prices of diesel and petrol are on a record high. In this backdrop, a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacting with a group of people is being circulated on social media. In the video it appears that a person named Haribhau tries to bring up the issue of fuel price hike but Modi interrupts and asks him to sit.
“बिचारा हरिभाऊ ……गायब होईल आता घरी पोहोचतो का नाही देव जाणे।पण एवढा घमंडी प्रधानमंत्री ह्या देशाला ना कधी मिळाला होता ना मिळणार हे मात्र नक्की,” The Facebook post read.
(Translation: Poor Haribhau……Will disappear now God knows whether he will reach home or not. But one thing is for sure…this country had never got such an arrogant prime minister)

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to be fake.
We ran a keyword search and found the full version of the interaction on the verified YouTube channel of PMO India. The video was uploaded on May 29, 2018. The title of the video read, ‘PM Modi interacts with the beneficiaries of Mudra Yojana from across the Nation, via VC | PMO’.
After watching the video, we found out that the viral clip in circulation had been edited.
PM Modi was talking to beneficiaries of Centre’s Mudra Yojana through video conferencing. The viral part in the YouTube video starts after 19 minutes 20 seconds when PM Modi starts talking to Haribhau from Nashik in Marathi.
In the original video, PM Modi greets Haribhau then asks him to sit and speak. Haribhau sits down and starts telling PM Modi how he benefited from the Mudra scheme. No mention of petrol prices can be heard in the video.
We also found the clip where PM Modi interacts with Haribhau during the conference on ABP Majha‘s YouTube channel as well.
Hence, it is evident that the video is edited to make it look as though PM Modi tried to ignore a question about the petrol price hike.
Hence, we can say that the video in circulation is altered and fake.
