A picture showing visual of a sculpture of a bicycle on a temple is doing rounds on the internet. It is being claimed that the 1300-year-old bicycle sculpture is carved on the walls of the Panchavarna temple in Tamil Nadu.
The caption of the post reads, ‘Amazing to see bicycle sculpture in More than 1300 year old, 7th century #PanchavarnaSwamy Temple #Tamilnadu And…they say cycle was invented in West about 200 yrs ago’.

We fact-checked the above post and found that the claim attached to the picture is fake.
We put the picture through Reverse Image Search and found the picture on the Tripadvisor website. According to the description, the picture shows Temple Carving of the Dutch coming by bike carved on the Dalem Jagaraga Temple, Singaraja.
With that information, we used some keywords and did a Google search.
We found a similar picture of the carving on a stock image website, Alamy, with a description, ‘Indonesia, Bali, Sawan, Jagaraga, Pura Dalem temple, exterior carved relief image of bicycle’.
Further, we found a blog that explained that the carved sculptures on Pura Dalem Jagaraga Temple are a testament of Dutch invasion in 1849.
The above information proves that the picture in question isn’t of any temple in Tamil Nadu but was shot at the Pura Dalem Jagaraga Temple in Indonesia.
