In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped and stoned to death in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district, police said on Wednesday.
The accused allegedly also murdered the victim’s father and her four-year-old niece, who were along with her, news agency PTI reported. The incident took place on January 29, but came to light on Tuesday, after which six accused persons were arrested, Korba Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena said.
The accused were identified as Santram Majhwar (45), Abdul Jabbar (29), Anil Kumar Sarthi (20), Pardeshi Ram Panika (35), Anand Ram Panika (25) and Shankar Yadav (21), all natives of Satrenga village in the district, PTI reported.

The accused reportedly took the three victims near a hill surrounded by forest, where the accused persons allegedly raped the teenage girl. They then stoned the victims and dumped them in the forest before fleeing from the spot.
After the accused gave their statement, police reached the crime spot and found the injured rape victim alive while her two family members were dead, reported PTI. She was then rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries before reaching there.
As per the police, the victims were from the Pahadi Korwa tribal community, which is a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG).
