Fact Check: Viral Image Of Old Patient Lying On Straw Bed Is Not From India; Here’s The Truth

The picture of an old person lying on a bed of straw is being shared with a claim that it is from India.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to false and misleading.

We ran the image through Google reverse image search and found it on a website named Rajdhani Daily which is a Nepali news portal.

The headline read, “परालमा सुताएर स्लाइन दिइएको ७७ वर्षिय राईको अवस्था यस्तो छ”

A rough translation of the above headline from Nepali to English: This is the condition of 77-year-old Rai, who was given a line lying on a straw.

According to the report, the picture is of 77-year-old Ram Bahadur Rai, a resident of Chichila, Khartamchha, Shadananda Municipality-3, Bhojpur, was given tap water on a straw bed.”

We found the same image on a website named Manaslu Post which is another Nepali news portal.

Similar news reports containing the picture were found on Nepal Post and Buddha Bhumi Nepal websites.

Moreover, a Canada based charity named Innovativecommunities.org Foundation (ICO) also shared this image on their Facebook page while mentioning that it is from Nepal.

Hence, based on the above information, it is clear that the image is from Nepal and is being shared with a false and misleading claim that it is from India.
