Fact Check: No, This Video Is NOT Of Thailand’s Health Minister Being Vaccinated Against COVID-19

A video of a man panicking while being being administered an injection is being shared on social media with a claim that the video is of Thailand’s Health Minister being vaccinated against COVID-19.

“थाईलैंड के स्वास्थ्य मंत्री को कोरोना इंजेक्शन लगाने का मंज़र,” the post read.

Here’s the link to the above post.

The same video was also shared by Pakistani-Canadian journalist and author, Tarek Fatah (archive), who is infamous for sharing false and misleading information.

NewsMobile fact-checked the video and found the claim to be false.

We extracted the keyframes of the video and ran them through Reverse Image Search. The search led us to the same video which was uploaded by a verified YouTube channel on January 29, 2018.

“Hilarious: Chinese man crying after refusing an injection,” the video was titled.

Based on this, we ran another search along with keywords and found that the same video was uploaded by South China Morning Post in 2018

The title of the video read, “Chinese man scared of his first ever injection.”

This proves that the video was recorded before the first known case of novel coronavirus was reported in December 2019.

Moreover, we then compared the man in the video with Anutin Charnvirakul, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, we found that both men were different.

Hence, from the above fact check, it is clear that the video is old and the man in the video is not Thailand’s Health Minister.
