PM Modi Hails India’s War Against COVID-19, Spells Out ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ Vision At Davos Dialogue

Hailing India’s response to fight COVID-19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India will vaccinate 300 million people including senior citizens and those with co-morbidities over the next few months.

Addressing the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Davos Dialogue, PM Modi said India has developed two COVID-19 vaccines already which have been exported to over 150 countries and many more Made In India vaccines will be available soon.

“In just 12 days, India has vaccinated more than 2.3 million healthcare workers. In the next some months, we will achieve our target of vaccinating 300 million elderly people and people with comorbidities,” PM Modi said.

He also spelt out how India was among the few countries which managed to save most lives during coronavirus pandemic.

“Right now there are two ‘Made in India’ vaccines. World Economic Forum will be relieved to know that in the time to come many more vaccines will come from India,” he added.

The Davos Dialogue agenda signals the launch of WEF’s great reset initiative in the post-COVID-19 world.

Bringing in hope to the world, PM Modi said, “”We showed the wold how ayurveda has helped in improving immunity.”

Interacting with global industry leaders, he also spelt out India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ thrust. “India has resolved to become Atmanirbhar which will strengthen globalization. Atmanirbhar campaign will receive support from industry 4.0. In the last 6 years, India’s digital drive has become a subject of interest even for WEF experts. Banks, Phones are all connected via Aadhar,” he said.

“In December, 4 trillion rupees of transactions enabled through the UPI systems. Many countries are looking to replicate the UPI networks. During COVID-19, 1.8 trillion rupees was transferred to bank accounts of beneficiaries,” PM added spelling out the steps taken b the government to make India self reliant.

“Our Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan is committed towards global good and global supply chain. India has the capacity, capability and reliability to strengthen the global supply chain,” he explained.

Talking about growth and development of MSMEs, PM Modi said, “Digital lending platforms can help MSMEs get access to credit. Our effort is that MSMEs should benefit from AI and ML. Through the government e-Marketplace (GeM) 450,000 MSMES have joined in government procurement online.”

Harping on key focal areas for the Centre, PM said, “Infrastructure is one of the foremost priorities of the Indian Govt In the last 6 years, India has added 36GW to production capacity, roads and real networks are being augmented. $1.5 trillion projects will be implemented in the next 5 years. Logistics policy has also been contemplated. Reforms are an ongoing exercise, to improve competitiveness.”

“It is estimated that the infrastructure needs of the country would be around 4.5 trillion dollars by 2040. I believe that government and industry would have to achieve this goal in unison. The government is continuously working towards providing stable environment and all help,” he added.

“India has a vibrant startup sector and 2/3rds of our economic output comes from cities. We have a commitment to Ease of living, ease of doing business, and climate-sensitive development. We are working to converge the physical and digital worlds in our cities. Till 2025 India will have 25 cities with Metro services, India progressing fast on electric mobility as well,” PM said spelling out the blueprint for India’s road ahead.
