In his first speech as US President, Joseph R Biden said that this was America’s day, democracy’s day and the will of the people has been heard.
Addressing the crowd after his swearing-in, Biden said, “This is America’s day. This is democracy’s day. The day of history and hope, of renewal and resolve. Through a crucible through the ages, America has been tested anew and America has risen to the challenge.” He added that the will of the people has been heard.
“Today, we celebrate triumph not of a candidate but of a cause, the cause of democracy. People & will of the people have been heard. We have learned again that democracy is precious, democracy is fragile & at this hour, my friends, democracy has prevailed,” Biden said after taking the oath.
