Vaccine Rollout And Registering On Co WIN App

Amidst fake apps doing the rounds on app stores, the Government of India has warned citizens against downloading the Co WIN app and says the authentic one is still being developed. As the COVID-19 vaccine rollout began on Saturday across India, Dr.Harsh Vardhan spoke with pride through his tweets after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation before kick starting the inoculation drive.

“The self-registration module of Co-WIN App has not been released yet. Be wary of any fraudulent apps with similar names that may exist on different platforms.” Warned Dr.Harsh Vardhan earlier.

The Co WIN platform will enable doctors, frontline workers, elderly with comorbidities and after that other citizens at large to register for the vaccine.

The app which is an upgraded version of eVIN (Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network) and available on Android and Apple platforms for free has five different modules:

  1. Administrator module
  2. Registration module
  3. Vaccination module
  4. Beneficiary Acknowledgement module
  5. Report module which ensures smooth tracking and registration for COVID-19 vaccine in the country.

The Registration Module enables frontline workers first to register for the vaccine within a month. For now, amidst the vaccination drive, the app will be used as a back-end software.

Registration Process:

  1. Photo identity needed
  2. Administrator module enables admins to track information uploaded by people.

Admins will create sessions after which respective vaccinators and managers receive relevant notifications and alerts

Inoculation Process:

  1. Beneficiary module verifies beneficiary details and updates vaccination status
  2. Beneficiary Acknowledgement Module sends SMS to beneficiaries. QR-based certificates are also generated after one gets vaccinated

The app will keep track of vaccine doses received by citizens who have registered and will ensure they get the second dosage as well. The final certificate will be issued after citizens take both vaccine shots.
