A year after the coronavirus pandemic emerged from the wet markets of Wuhan in China, a team of 10 World Health Organization(WHO) international experts arrive in China on Thursday to investigate the origins of COVID-19. The world health body has drawn sharp criticism for delay in taking action in finding out more on China’s role in the coronavirus global pandemic.
The team will be conducting a field visit and China has supported scientists around the world to conduct a global study on the origins and transmission routes of the virus. The question is whether the WHO experts will be able to visit the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV). There are rumours that the virus emerged from this laboratory instead from the wet markets. WIV has denied the allegations saying that the rumours are politically motivated.
