‘DO NOT download’: Health Ministry Warns Against Fake CoWIN App

Date:

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on January 6 warned people against downloading fake CoWIN (COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network) app from app stores.

“Some apps named ‘#CoWIN’ apparently created by unscrupulous elements to sound similar to upcoming official platform of Government, are on App stores. DO NOT download or share personal information on these. #MoHFW Official platform will be adequately publicised on its launch,” it said in a tweet.

Notably, the CoWIN (COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network) app will soon be launched by the centre and it is currently in the pre-production stage. As of yet, the app has not been launched on Google Play or any other app stores.

On Sunday, the government approved two vaccines – Covaxin and Covishield, developed by Bharat Biotech and Serum Institute of India respectively for restricted emergency use in India.
